Hard Assets

Ever heard of 'Monaco Rare Coin'? They are a coin dealer, part of the Monex family of companies. The Monex companies have assisted in over $25 billion in hard asset investments. Hard assets and things you can touch, actual items that the money is invested in.

It makes so much more sense to invest in real items. They exist. You can see and touch what you money ahs bought.

If you have ever bought shares you'll know how strange it is to think that you have you money invested in something that has a value, only when it is sold. It's like it doesn't exist until you sell it.

Chargers

Have you ever done this: You your phone goes flat as you're in the middle of a call, so you run round trying to find a charger but all you can find is one that doesn't fit? It has all the wrong prongs, or you have all the wrong holes. Either way, you're stuffed.

Well, not any more. Companies including Apple, Nokia and Sony Ericsson have promised to start offering phones that fit a universal charger from next year.

I knew the future would have this. You never saw an episode of Star Trek when Scott was running round saying, "I cannie find the right charger Captain."

The move comes in response to anger from consumers who are landed with chargers with different connections for each phone bought.

And they don't even put a label on them, so you daren't throw any away. I've got drawers filled with wires. In cupboards and drawers, not drawers as in pants. But I have seen an episode of Star Trek where someone had pants filled with wires.

There are more than 30 different chargers in circulation in member states of the European Union, which estimates that 51,000 are lying unused. But they will all use the mini USB connection in the future.

The only downside is the dippy one in the office who never remembers to charge her phone will ask to borrow your charger... and you won't be able to say now.
