The Good (G)Old Days

During a recession people go back to basics. You may have started cooking meals at home rather than buying ready made foods. You may have found yourself repairing things rather than just throwing away and buying new. And there is another example of people going back to basics in the current economic climate, gold.

It's something of a tradition that when the large economies struggle gold is seen to be a better investment. It's happening again. The gold market is doing very well right now, the price has performed well since the U.S. economy starting having a bad time. It's because, just like in the old days, gold is seen as a safe investment as it is a physical thing. If you buy gold bars you have something tangible that won't rust, rot and will hold its value.

So it seems that during this recession we can go back to the good old ways of doing things and this more frugal way of life makes a lot more sense.
